Abstract

PURPOSE: To generate steam from the sea water with high efficiency, in a sea water- desalting apparatus using the solar heat, by assembling a sun light-permeable plate member, side walls and a bottom plate into a sealed-box structure, and arranging a partition plate for natural convection of sea water at the bottom side of a sun light- absorbing member arranged inside the box.
CONSTITUTION: Sea water corresponding to an evaporation rate is fed into a desalting apparatus through a sea water-feed pipe 17, and its excess part is discharged through a concentrated sea water-discharge pipe 18. Sun light L is absorbed in a sun light-absorbing member 15 so that sea water is gradually heated, gently starts natural convection in succession, rises along a sun light-permeable plate member 12, generates steam at a gas-liquid boundary 21 and descends along the back surface of a partition plate 16. The generated steam is introduced through a steam chamber 22 into a steam condenser 19, and cooled with air. Tnus, fresh water is obtained.
