Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the precision of a hole made formed in two electrode substrates near their centers and the reliability of a liquid crystal display element, by sealing the circumference of the center parts of two electrode substrates with a sealing material, by making the hole at the sealed part, and by fitting a short pipe- shaped or frame-shaped member in the hole. CONSTITUTION:The outer circumferences and hole circumferences of two upper and lower electrode substrates 10 and 11 each having a hole in the center are sealed with a sealing material to constitute a package, into which a liquid-crystal material 13 is sealed. In the holes of the substrates 10 and 11, a pipe-shaped or frame-shaped member 14 is fitted and fixed with an adhesive 16. Consequently, high-precision work regarding the hole diameter side of each electrode substrate is unnecessary to shorten the work time greatly, and while the adhesive strength of the sealing material at the center part is increased, the sealing contact area is widened, thereby improving the reliability of a liquid-crystal display element.
