Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a laser of high efficiency and output by a method wherein more than one of hollowed wave guide are coupled using a dielectric wave guide of which each end surface is treated with coating free from reflection into a wave guide type laser which has sealed laser medium gas in a hollowed wave guide path. CONSTITUTION:A ceramic tube is used as a hollowed wave guide but the ceramic tube gets curved by baking on manufacture and tube of a long length and good linearity can not be obtained. For this reason a tube of a necessary length is obtained by fabricating short tubes and coupling them. Thus hollowed wave guides 10, 10' are built from ceramic material of a length within a tolerative linearity and a tube of a long length is obtained by coupling them and laser medium gas is filled within it. In this constitution a dielectric element made from ZnSe, Ge and others is used as a wave guide 11 for coupling if CO2 is used as medium gas and an end of it is treated to be free from reflection and a tube of a long length is obtained by inserting and coupling it into ends of wave guides 10 and 10'. By this arrangement coupling loss is made extremely small in spite of deviation in an optical axis.
