Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress proliferation of aerobic bacteria and prevent filamentous bulking by providing slow speed paddles in a loop type waste water treatment tank, and intermittently operating an aertor through alternately operating the paddles and the aerator.
CONSTITUTION: Aeration treatment of waste water is carried out by using a loop type waste water treatment tank 1, and alternately operating paddles 4 and an aerator 3 or intermittently operating the aerator 3 while revolving the paddles 4. The processing is repeated so that the entire part of the mixed liquid in the tank becomes an aerobic state and an anaerobic state at suitable time intervals. In this way, ammonia is mainly nitrified in the aerobic state, and is succession to this, denitification bacterium groups are activated in the anaerobic state that takes place in the same tank, whereby nitric acid is decomposed. Thereby, dentrification operation treatment is accomplished at low maintenance costs in a large scale sewage treatment system, and the treatment of ≥70% denitrification rate is stably accomplished by the simple operations.
