Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform efficient and economical denitrification of waste water with ease of operation by allowing org. waste water contg. nitrogen to settle by using a single denitrifying-nitrifying tank and after operating the same in cycles of introduction, denitrification, nitrification and exhausting.
CONSTITUTION: In a biological treatment of waste water contg. org. matter and nitrogen such as night soil, municipal sewage, a single denitrifying and nitrifying tank is used, and first the waste water is introduced into the remaining liquid of the previous cycle, whereby said liquid is put in an anaerobic agitating state. The org. materials in the waste water are oxidation-decomposed by the denitrifying germ groups by making use of the nitric and nitrous ions, and nitric ions etc. are reduced to nitrogen gas. When the liquid is aerated and stirred after this, the organic materials remained in the previous process are oxidation-decomposed aerobically and reduction type nitrogen compounds are made into nitrous ions and nitric ions by nitrifying germ groups. After this the discharged mixed liquid is sent to a settling tank.
