Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the air contamination and noise of exhaust of a stationary internal combustion engine or the like for driving a heat pump and maximally recover and utilize waste heat, by coupling a catalytic reaction part, a heat exchange part and a silencing part in that order to construct an exhaust device. CONSTITUTION:A heat exchange part 4 is coupled to a catalytic reaction part 3 which is connected to the exhaust port 2 of an engine 1 as near to the port as possible. A water jacket 10 is provided around the parts 3, 4. Cooling water is introduced through an inlet port 8 so that the water absorbs the energy of exhaust gas. After that, the cooling water is drained through an outlet port 9. The energy absorbed by the cooling water is used not for the engine 1 but for some purpose. The water jacket 10 is covered with a heat insulator 11. After the exhaust gas having passed through the heat exchange part 4 is removed of water through a drainer 7, the exhaust gas enters into a silencing part 5 next to the heat exchange part 4 so that the noise of the exhaust is reduced. The exhaust gas is then released into the atmosphere through a tailpipe 6.
