交換装置4の放熱部5及びマフラ6を順に接続し、熱交
換装置4の吸熱部7に熱回収流路8を連通し、排気ポー
ト2の出口10と触媒コンバータ3の排気ガス導入口1
1との接続部12の近傍位置14に、排気ガス中の未燃
焼成分の予備燃焼用触媒15を設け、燃焼室16内の高
温の排気ガスが排気ポート2に出たすぐの所でそれほど
温度降下しないうちに予備燃焼用触媒15と接触して、
排気ガス中の未燃焼成分の一部を予備燃焼させて、排気
ガスを温度上昇させておいてから、排気ガスが触媒コン
バータ3内の触媒17に至るまでに温度降下しても、そ
の触媒17には充分に高い反応温度で接触して未燃焼成
分を充分に燃焼させ、排気ガスの温度を上昇させてその
保有熱量を増大させ、この排気ガスが熱交換装置4の放
熱部5を通過するときに、その排気ガスの大きな保有熱
量を熱交換装置4を介してその吸熱部7を通る熱媒体に
吸収させて回収するように構成した事を特徴とするガス
