Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a sea water-desalinating apparatus suitable for an evaporation process, by inserting a heat-transmitting pipe into the first packed layer to heat a flowing liquid with a heat medium from the ourside, and other heat-transmitting pipes into the second and the succeding packed layers to heat the flowing liquid with steam generated in the preceding stage.
CONSTITUTION: In an inner cylinder 7 into which sea water is fed through a feed pipe 1 under pressure by a pump 16 and from which a concentrated liquid is withdrawn through a concentrated liquid pipe 19, a packed layer packed with packing 4 is formed. The packing 4 is packed in a manner such that it is fixed or fluidized in the packed layer. A heat-transmitting pipe 2 to heat a flowing liquid with a heat medium, e.g. steam, from the outside is inserted into the packed layer at the first stage. On the other hand, heat-transmitting pipes 2 to heat the flowing liquid with steam generated in the preceding stage are inserted into the packed layers at the second and the succeeding stages. The concentrated water passing through the final stage is withdrawn through a concentrated water withdrawing pipe 26, heat-exchanged with an untreated liquid (sea water) flowing toward a concentrator 10 in an untreated liquid preheater 9 to preheat the sea water, and recovered through a concentrating pipe 19.
