Abstract
PURPOSE: To keep constant the feed rate of the sea water and brine to each-effect evaporator, and to improve the desalination rate, by feeding a part of sea water from the preheater standing at the preheating temperature approximately equal to the temperature of the effect evaporator to the corresponding effect evaporator.
CONSTITUTION: The sea water is introduced into the heat-transfer tubes 24 of the preheater 5 through the pipe 13, the pump 14, the condenser 2, the scale preventer 3, and heat-transfer tubes 23 of the preheater 4. A greater part of the sea water going out of the preheater 5 is introduced into the preheater 6 through the pipe 20, but a part is introduced into the fourth-effect evaporator 11 through the pipe 27. Similarly, the flows of the vapor, brine, sea water and saltless water of the second- effect evaporator 9 and the third-effect evaporator 10 are arranged similarly to those in case of the fourth-effect evaporator 11; that is, in these vaporators, the vapor generated in the former-effect evaporator is utilized for heating the next-effect evaporator. The brine obtained from the sea water by evaporation and thickening at the first-effect evaporator 8 is introduced into the second-effect evaporator 9 through the pipe 58.
