Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify a process and make the equipment compact by a method wherein granulation, drying and sifting steps are conducted in a rotary drum, while pulverizing and circulating steps are conducted in the exterior of the drum, in the preparation of a particulate fertilizer.
CONSTITUTION: The interior of a drum body 12 of a device 11 is partitioned into a granulating zone 13, a drying zone 14 and a sifting zone 15. Raw materials are supplied from a supplying pipe 37 into the granulating zone 13 together with off- specification product circulated from the sifting zone 15, followed by granulation at an appropriate water content and an appropriate temperature. Then the granules obtained are moved into the drying zone 14 and then into the sifting zone 15. On- specification product is taken out, while coarse granules and lumps which have not passed through screens 24, 24 are pulverized by a pulverizer 36, followed by circulation into the granulating zone 13. Accordingly, since the granulating, drying and sifting steps are conducted in one rotary drum type device, the process is facilitated and the equipment is made to be compact.
