Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the heat radiation to improve thermal efficiency as well as simplify the constitution by a method wherein the incineration residue is melted by external heating with a heating apparatus and, once molten, heated internally by the feeding of alternating current across electrodes provided in the melting disposal furnace.
CONSTITUTION: The residue of municipal refuse or the incineration residue of draingage mud generated within an incineration furnace 1 is, through a throw-in passage 10, directly thrown into the melting disposal furnace 8. Within the melting disposal furnace 8, at first the incineration residue is heated by the initial heating apparatus 12 so that the molten state of the incineration residue allows for electric current to pass across and then the electrodes 17 equipped on the furnace main body are protruded into the furnace main body far enough to be submerged into the molten material 13 produced as described above. Next, the alternating current is past across the electrodes 17 through the molten material 13 which maintains its molten state by Joule heat generated within itself acting as electric conductor. Under this state, incineration residue is continuously thrown in, from the incineration furnace 1 to be molten. The molten material 13 thus produced is successively discharged from a discharge port 14, and separated and solidified in a slug solidification apparatus 15.
