Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the heat radiation to improve thermal efficiency and as well as simplify the constitution by a method wherein dry drainage mud cakes are melted by external heating with a heating apparatus and, once molten, heated internally by the feeding of alternating current across electrodes provided in a melting disposal furnace.
CONSTITUTION: The dry drainage mud cakes produced within a dryer 3 are, by means of a cutting-out conveyor 12 through a throw-in passage 14, directly thrown into the melting disposal furnace 15. Within the melting disposal furnace 15, at first the dry cakes are heated by the initial heating apparatus to be changed into molten state and then the electrodes 22 equipped on the furnace main body are protruded into the furnace main body far enough to be submerged into the molten material 17 produced as described above. Next, the alternating current is past across the electrodes 22 through the molten material 17 which maintains its molten state by Joule heat generated within itself acting as electric conductor. Under this state, dry cakes are continuously thrown in, from an incineration furnace 1, to be molten. The molten material 17 thus produced is successively discharged from a discharge port 18, and separated and solidified in a slug solidification apparatus 19.
