Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent infiltration of a liquid medium into a tubular material to be measured by sealing both ends thereof utilizing an air pressure. CONSTITUTION:The body 10 of a flaw detector is rotated at a high speed about the axis thereof feeding a liquid medium 17 into a through hole 11 thereof through a feed tube 16. As soon as a tubular material A is carried into an incoming conveyor 18, a cylinder 22 of an air feeder 20 is stretched to insert an injection nozzle 21 from the rear end side of the material A and with the opening of a valve 23, a compressed air is fed to prevent infiltration of the liquid medium 17 from the front end of the material A. When the tip of the material A passes the outgoing side of the body 10, the valve 23 is closed to withdraw the injection nozzle 21. On the other hand, with the stretching of a cylinder 26 of an air feeding cylinder 24, the injection nozzle 25 is inserted from the front end a valve 27 is opened to feed an compressed air until the rear end of the material A passes the outgoing side of the body immediately after entering it, thereby preventing the infiltration of the liquid medium 17.
