Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the drying of ink at a nozzle nose and the adhesion of dust in air to the nozzle nose by immersing the nozzle nose into ink supplied by a course apart from an ink feeding passage to a nozzle when nonrecording. CONSTITUTION:For supply ink to a printing head 5, a plunger 9 is pushed against an end surface of a nozzle 1a, and sealed with an O ring 10. Under this condition, an atmospheric opening valve 21 is closed, a valve 20 is opened, a vacuum pump 22 is started, and the insides of each small tube, an uppeer space in an ink vessel 6 and the inside of the printing head 5 are evacuated. The valve 20 is closed, the vcuum pump 22 is stopped, the atmospheric opening valve 21 is opened, and the ink 8 is filled into the printing head 5 and the samll tubes 13, 14. Electricity is conducted to a solenoid 11, and contact between the plunger 9 and the printing head 5 is released while the valve 20 is opened. The ink in the printing head 5 is held in the head 5 by a capillary action as it is.
