Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a titled ink supply device with freedom in design and high reliability by connecting through a valve mechanism an ink cartridge which is provided with a pressurizing mechanism and a sub-tank which communicates with the ink jet and has atmospheric pressure as its internal pressure. CONSTITUTION:An ink cartridge 21 is used which consists of an ink bab (inside is full of ink) 41 with a nipple 40 (31) that is made of soft rubber and accommodated in an external case 39 with an air hole 42, and the bag 41 is pressurized by a weight 43 placed on top of the bag 41. An opening and closing valve 24 and a syringe needle 25 are connected to an ink jet head through a channel 27 and to a sub-tank 28 (26 represents a filter) through a chennel 30, which sub- tank commuicates with atmosphere through an air hole 29. When the ink cartride 21 is set at a specified position, the syringe needle 31 pierces a navel 31 and invades into the ink in the cartridge 21. Then a desired amount of ink is supplied to the sub-tank 28 by opening the valve 24 through an electro-magnet 22 and a lever 23.
