Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a space between an original pressing plate and an original and prevent the stain of the original pressing plate from being imprinted by containing an original feed roller within the original pressing plate during copying. CONSTITUTION:An original 8 is fed onto platen glass 1 by an original feed roller 3 extruding from a slit 5 provided to a stationary belt 2, and is placed in a prescribed position by abutting on a registration edge 9. During copying, the roller 3 is retreated as a solenoid 4 operates and therefore the stain of the belt 2 is not imprinted. Since there is a space between the belt and the original, the occurrence of original clogging by frictional charging is prevented. The roller 3 is in contact with the end part of the slit 5 of the belt 2 and is therefore automatically cleaned.
