Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to move a heat-sensitive paper smoothly and miniaturize a head, by a method wherein a common electrode for heating resistors is extended to the outside of a region through which a heat-sensitive paper is passed, in a thermal head of a system wherein all the heating resistors are driven individually. CONSTITUTION:A hermetic seal cap 23 incorporating a shift register 12 and a driving circuit 13 is provided on a ceramic substrate 21 through an insulating layer 22, and a region 26 in which the heating resistors 14 are aligned in a line is also provided on the substrate 21 through the layer 22. The resistors 14 are connected at one end to the common electrode 29 through individual electrodes and are connected at other end to the driving circuit 13 through individual electrodes. Both ends of the common electrode 29 are extended to the outside of the region W through which the heat-sensitive paper is passed, and the extended parts of the electrode 29 constitute a power source connecting terminal 30, to which is connected a lead wire from a power source 15. Since the connecting part is located outside the region W, it does not interfere with the movement of the paper.
