Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a medicine for the cardiovascular system in high purity and yield, by easy operations, by adding acetic anhydride to 5-[2-(dimethylamino)ethoxy]carvacrol, heating the resultant mixture and distilling the mixture under reduced pressure.
CONSTITUTION: Acetic anhydride is added to a compound of formulaI, and the resultant mixture is heated to give the aimed compound of formula II. In the process, the distillation is carried out after the heating step under reduced pressure. The reaction is carried out by adding the acetic anhydride in an amount of 1W1.5 times the equivalents compound of formula II thereto, and heating the mixture at 60W80°C for 30min. The acetylation proceeds, and the reaction solution containing the formed acetate is distilled under a reduced pressure of about 10mmHg and a bath temperature of 120W130°C, and then the pressure is further reduced to collect the fraction at 145W148°C at 1mmHg and give the aimed compound of formula II.
