Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability of an inverter by sharing a voltage with saturable reactors and suppressing an overvoltage to be applied to a main thyristor. CONSTITUTION:A saturable reactor 16 is provided between the connecting point of main thyristors 3, 4 and a commutation condenser 15 connected to the connecting point. A load 2 is connected at its one end to the connecting point of the thyristors 3, 4 through a saturable reactor 16. The reactor 16 in the commutating step enters into an unsaturating range simultaneously upon a saturable reactor 5. Since a commutation reactor 16 is in saturating range at this time, the voltage of the condenser 15 is approximately shared at the reactors 5, 16, and the voltage shared by the reactor 5 and the voltage applied to the thyristor 4 can be decreased.
