1,164,800. Inverting. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. 26 Oct., 1967 [26 Oct., 1966], No. 48786/67. Heading H2F. An inverter comprising a bridge network for each output A.C. phase, the bridge comprising thyristors 5 and 6 and feedback diodes 7 and 8 with two thyristors 9 and 10 arranged across one diagonal, is characterized by the provision in each bridge of a single commutating capacitor adapted to quench one of the thyristors 9 or 10 whilst the other is still blocked. In one arrangement, Fig. 1 (not shown), the commutating capacitor (C) has one terminal connected to the junction of thyristors 9 and 10 and the other terminal connected to the junction of a pair of commutation thryistors (11 and 12) connected across the D.C. supply. In another arrangement, Fig. 2, the capacitor C<SP>1</SP> is connected via an inductance L<SP>1</SP> to the junction of two capacitors C<SP>1</SP>g connected across the D.C. supply, and is connected via respective thyristors 13 and 14 to diagonal points on the bridge. The load for each phase is shown as an inductance L and is connected to the junction of thyristors 9 and 10.
