Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve electric current efficiency considerably by changing electrolytic current densities and electrode areas considerably in correspondence to the change in concns. in accordance with the progression of electrolysis of the target reacting components in the liquid to be treated.
CONSTITUTION: For example, 4 sheets of metallic electrode plates 11aWd are contained in an electrolytic cell, and the respective areas SaWd of these electrode plates are made successively larger from an inlet 13 to an outlet 14 for an electrolyte. These are supported in the electrolytic cell by means of plastic supporting plates 15 serving also as insulation plates. If electricity is conducted from the outer sides of the plates 11aWd with such a device, anodic and cathodic current densities are rspectively decreased gradually, and this results in that the electric current corresponding to the concn. decreased between the plates 11a and b and the optimum current density are maintained. It is possible to change the areas SaWd of the plates 11aWd or to change the current densities by changing the geometrical construction of the electrolytic cell. These are determined depending upon the characteristics of the electrolytic system.
