Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable extraction of an electrolyte soln. thickdr than that of a conventional method by setting a means of supplying and discharging dilute electrolyte soln. on one side of porous electrodes attached to both sides of a diaphragm and a means of recovering a thick electrolyte soln. on the other side to construct an electrolytic cell.
CONSTITUTION: Electrolytic cell 1 is composed of cathode chamber 4 and anode chamber 3, and diaphragm 2 is held between the flanges of chambers 4, 3 with bolts 14. Porous anode 5a and porous cathode 6a are attached to both sides of diaphragm 2. Chamber 4 is provided with dilute electrolyte soln. supply inlet 7 and discharge outlet 8, and chamber 3 with thick electrolyte soln. discharge outlet 10, outlet 13 for allowing gas generated in the vicinity of anode 5a to escape, etc. This apparatus is suitable for separation-recovering chromic acid from washing waste water of Cr plating. Unlike a conventional method the Cr ion moving speed is proportionated to the electrolytic current, so extraction of chromic acid of much higher concn. is enabled by electrolysis.
