Abstract
PURPOSE:To economically carry out recovery of metallic copper and regeneration of acid at the same time with good efficiency by placing anion and catiob diaphragms or a plurality of amphoteric membrances between a cathode and a sintered metal oxide anode, and controlling the cathode region to a specific pH value. CONSTITUTION:A copper-contg. waste pickling soln. is drawn from pickling vessel 9 with pump 10 and introduced into intermediate chamber 5. Voltage is spplied between ferrite anode 7 and cathode 8 made of ferrite or usual iron, carbon, Ti, etc. to carry out electrolysis. Thus, copper ions in the waste soln. reach cathode 8 through cation diaphragm 3 and deposit as metallic copper powder. At this time, the pH of cathode chamber 6 is adjusted to 0.5-2.0 by adding acid. Anions formed by the electrolysis reach anode 7 through anion diaphragm 2 and are regenerated as acid. This acid is returned to vessel 9 through discharge pipe 13.
