Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a Cu alloy with superior heat resistance and electric conductivity at a low cost in a safe and simple stage by adding Cu2O or CuO to a molten Cu alloy to selectively oxidize the alloying element by a substitution reaction.
CONSTITUTION: By adding Cu2O or CuO to molten Cu or a molten Cu alloy contg. ≥1 kind of alloying element having larger free energy for forming oxide than free energy required to form Cu2O or CuO at a temp. above the m.p. of Cu or the Cu alloy, the alloying element is selectively oxidized to obtain a Cu alloy contg. uniformly and finely distributed oxide. To effectively cause the selective oxidation Al, Mg, Si, Ti, Zr, Be, Mn, Sn or the like having much larger free energy for forming oxide than Cu and forming relatively stable oxide is preferably used as the alloying element.
