Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a rough surface with high adhesion by heat-treating a steel plate under suitable conditions before or after working and by carrying out electrolytic etching in a soln. contg. halogen ion.
CONSTITUTION: A stainless steel plate is heat-treated at about 500W850°C. As the final working rate applied to the plate is increased, the treating temp. is made lower and the treating time is made longer. The heat-treated plate with Cr carbide deposited on the surface is electrolytically etched in a soln. contg. halogen ion to allow the deposited Cr carbide and its periphery to be leached out preferentially. By this method a uniformly rough surface is obtd. over the whole surface of the steel plate, and the adhesion to a catalyst carrier is enhanced.
