Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance abrasion resistance by etching the surface of a material to be treated comprising an iron base metal material having a passive zone perior to forming a silicon graphite layer thereon.
CONSTITUTION: The material to be treated comprising an iron base metal material having a passive zone (SUS303 stainless steel) is immersed in an acidic solution with pH3 or less containing chlorine ion or subjected to anodic treatment. Subsequently, on a surface of the material to be treated having plural fine pores provided by the etching treatment, a coating material consisting of 100pts.wt. silicon varnish and 20W150pts.wt. graphite is coated. Next, the coated material to be treated is heated at a temp. range of 400W650°C for 30min or more. By this method, the graphite is diffused toward an interior of the material to be treated.
