Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the abrasion resistance and the seizure proof property by a method wherein B is diffused into a surface of a metal material such as a bearing, a sliding member, a metal mold for glass or plastic and the like and, thereafter, nitration treatment carried out or B is diffused after the nitration to form boron nitride. CONSTITUTION:A metal material such as a bearing, a sliding member, a metal mold for glass, plastic or the like is used as a cathode and a carbon electrode is used as an anode within a boron oxide hot bath (about 600-1,000 deg.C) and electrolysis is carried out for 1-3hr. to diffuse B. Subsequently, a B diffused metal material is heated at about 500 deg.C for 10-100hr. within NH3 atmosphere or the like, or is subjected to ion nitration. Moreover, the above described treatments may be carried out in a reverse order, but, if the above described treatments are not carried out to a copper alloy, a boron nitride layer can not be formed.
