Abstract
PURPOSE:To coat a substrate with titanium carbide without deteriorating the strength of the substrate by a method wherein the precipitation-hardenable alloy is subjected to a solution heat treatment, then is quenched and thereafter is coated with titanium carbide by activated reaction type vapor deposition at a temperature suitable for precipitation hardening treatment of the alloy. CONSTITUTION:The alloy is subjected to the solution heat treatment and then quenched. Thereafter, the alloy is coated with titanium carbide by the activated reaction type vapor deposition at the temperature suitable for precipitation hardening treatment of the alloy.
