Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform surface treatment so as to reduce oxidation wastage, by plating the surface of metal with Ni, then by diffusing Al into the metal. CONSTITUTION:The surface of heat resistant steel or pure copper is plated with Ni, then Al is diffused into the metal thereby forming Ni-Al alloy layer on the surface of the metal. Ni plating is performed by electroplating, Kanigen process, vacuum vapor deposition, or melt-spraying. Al coating is performed by hot dipping, calorizing, vacuum vapor coating, or melt-spraying. Al-Ni alloy layer is heated by about 700-1,000 deg.C for several hr in reducing atmosphere or in vacuum thereby diffusing Al into the substrate to form Al-Ni alloy. The alloy having an Al to Ni ratio of about 30:70 is most resistant to heat.
