Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate repair owing to erosion by joints and base metal penetration and to reduce the time for casting by casting the permalining and work lining of the bed of a molten metal vessel with shapeless refractories. CONSTITUTION:Shapeless refractories 4 of the bed permalining are formed by mixing prescribed water with powdery castable refractories, kneading these with a mixer or the like and casting the mixture. The required thicknesss is finished level and smooth. In order to maintain the adhesivenss to a shell, metallic studs 5 of a Y shape, a V shape, etc. are installed adjacently to the shell shapeless refractories are so cast as to enclose these. Next, the bed work lining on the inner side is cast, for which large-sized precast blocks 6 are used particularly. The precast blocks are made by casting the shapeless refractories kneaded with water into a molding flask of a prescribed size and drying the same.
