Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the reliability and the safety, by bringing the organic solvent paste of alkali metal compound powder into contact with a tungsten trioxide amorphous thin film of a glass plate having a transparent electrode via an ion electric conductor thin film. CONSTITUTION:A tungsten trioxide amorphous thin film 3 of 0.7mu thickness is formed on a glass plate 2 having a transparent electrode film 1 on its surface by vapor deposition or the like process. Then a barium fluoride film 4 of 0.1mu uniform thickness is formed on the film 3 by vapor deposition, etc. A spacer 5 is set on the film 4 to form a display form like a segment, etc. Then the paste 6 obtained by mixing glycerol and powdered anhydrous lithium tungstate in 1:2 ratio is filled into the spacer 5. And a metallic electrode 8 having a known transition metallic compound film 7 is formed on the spacer 5 as a back counter electrode.
