Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the volume of damping water out of small area parts with high accuracy and reliability by irradiating pulse light of a xenon discharge tube to a detection surface, passing the reflected light therefrom through filters which allow the transmission of the absorption wavelength region and nonabsorption wavelength region of water and detecting the same with a pair of detectors. CONSTITUTION:The flash light of a xenon discharge tube 10 is condensed by a lens 11 and is conducted to a plate surface 13 by an optical guide 12. The reflected light is bisected by a semitransparent mirror 15 via an optical guide 12', and the split beams are made incident to IR detectors 18, 19 via two kinds of interference filters 16, 17. The filters 16, 17 allow the transmission of the IR rays of the 2.95mu region absorbed by water or the IR rays of the 2.5mu region to be unabsorbed by water respectively. The inside of the measuring device is kept purged by the gaseous nitrogen from a cylinder 14. The outputs of the detectors 17, 18 are applied to peak holding circuits 23, 24, and a logarithmic circuit 27, by which the difference between the max. signals is displayed 28, and the volume of damping water in the small area parts is measured with high accuracy and reliability.
