When the surface 1 moves up and down to get the focus position out of the positions of divided detectors, the fluxes 9g and 9h irradiate the inside or the outside of the divided detector. As a result, the positive and negative signals are delivered to the terminal 11 to ensure a detection for an out-of-focus. The inclination of a photodisk, if arises, is cancelled to give no effect since the irradiating positions of divided luminous fluxes shift in the same direction.
