Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain focus information on the basis of the output of a CCD which corresponds to its irradiation area, by causing reflected light from a disk to strike the CCD through an objective. CONSTITUTION:Reflected light from a disk 7 is incident to a line sensor 9 consisting of CCDs, etc., by way of an objective lens 6 and a half-mirror 5. According to the state of focusing of a light beam on the disk surface, the state of the light incident to the line sensor 9 varies and a light circle 20 also varies, so that the output (l) of the line sensor 9 varies. On the basis of the variations, a focus error signal for automatic focusing is generated. In the figure, a 23 is a level for the addressing of a light shielding body 17, and a 22 is a level generated by bias light.
