Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the production and increase a luminous output quantity of the captioned lamp, by installing two or more pairs of electrodes so that they face each other in a bulb to the inner surface of which a phosphorescent layer is stuck, and by forming a parallel discharging passage between their respective facing electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Into a rectangular cylindrical glass bulb 1 to the inner surface of which a phosphorescent layer 2 is stuck, a predetermined amount of mercury and rare gas is charged, and on the other hand both ends of the bulb are provided with 3 sets of electrodes so that said electrodes are forced to face in pairs, 31a, and 31b, 32a and 32b, and, 33a and 33b, respectively. And, to the respective pairs of electrodes, starters S1-S3 are installed, connected in parallel to an electric source, and lighted by the 3 discharging passages. Consequently, plural linear discharging passages can be formed without forcing the discharging passages to meander compulsively, therefore the production of the captioned lamp can be greatly facilitated, the luminous output quantity increased, and the starting characteristic also enhanced.
