Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the high luminous output and the starting characteristic of the captioned lamp, by installing 2 or more pairs of electrodes in a bulb, and on the other hand by providing a discharging-passage-regulating-body so that the discharge generating between respective pairs of electrodes is controlled to be single U-shape, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A phosphorescent material layer 3 is stuck to the inner wall of a domes cylindrical glass bulb 1 closely resembling an incandescent lamp, and on the other hand a predetermined amount of mercury and rare gas is charged into said bulb 1. Also, 2 pairs of electrodes, 51 and 52, and, 53 and 54, are mounted on a stem 4, and between said pairs of electrodes there is installed a cross-shaped discharge-regulating-body 8 haing a projecting part 81, which cross-shapedly controls the discharge generating between respective pairs of electrodes and separates said discharge into individual one between respective pairs of electrodes. And, between respective pairs of electrodes the starters are connected in parallel to an electric souce, which is lighted by the 2 discharging passages. Consequently, the production process of the lamp can be simplified, and without injuring the high luminous output performance the starting characteristic can be enhanced.
