CONSTITUTION:A small fluorescent lamp comprises a glass outer tube 2 with a dome-shaped end surface, and a phosphor film 3 which is to be luminous by irradiation of ultraviolet light is stretched over the inside surface of the glass tube 2. Grooves 4 which are formed by sinking a part of the inside surface of the glass tube 2 longitudinally are provided on the glass tube 2, and a separating plate 5 is closely inserted in the grooves to separate the discharge. Electrodes 6 are provided in the both side spaces of the glass tube 2 separated with the separating plate 5. A transparent conductive film 2-a of a prescribed resistance value and a transparent insulating film 2-b which is nonreactive with mercury are stretched over the inside surface of the glass tube container 2 except groove areas.
