Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce loss which is caused at metal partition walls, and enhance the luminous efficiency of a low pressure gas electric-discharge lamp by connecting electrodes and the said partition walls by means of a rectification circuit, and making the electric potential of the said partition walls to be negative to that of one of the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical discharge case the inner wall of which is coated with a phosphor is divided into a plural number of sepatated rooms by means of plural metal partition walls 5. The separated rooms are connected to each other by making at least one part of each partition member 5 to be opened. Electrodes 6a and 6b and the walls 5 are connected by means of a rectification circuit 20 so that the walls 5 have an electric potential negative to that of one of the electrodes 6a and 6b. When a base 9 is connected to a power source, a preheating current flows through a current limiter 11 and the electrodes 6a and 6b. A lamp 1 is lit by kick voltage develpoed during the disconnection of a glow lamp 12.
