Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify a lighting circuit by providing a double tube consisting of outside and inside bulbs by making a discharge path differ between the two electrodes provided in the inside bulb and between the inside and outside bulbs at each semicycle of the AC power supply. CONSTITUTION:When an AC power supply 11 is applied, a glow lamp 10 operates and an electrode 4 is preheated. Then, when the glow lamp 10 is opened, a discharge lamp lights up by the kick voltage generated in a stsbilizer 7. At the semicycle in which one end connected to the stabilizer 7 of the AC power supply 11 becomes positive, if the glow lamp 10 operates, the kick voltage is applied between electrodes 4 and 6 through a rectifier 12 and discharge starts. On the contrary, at the semicycle in which the polarity of the AC power supply 11 becomes negative in one end connected to the stabilizer 7, if the glow lamp 10 operates, discharge starts between the electrodes 4 and 5.
