Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a higher quality and homogenigation of printing with a higher efficiency of printing by forming a heat generating resistor on a convex of a head body to unifomize the contact between the resistor and a heat sensitive paper. CONSTITUTION:A film of a heat generating resistor (e.g. Ni-W-P alloy) is provided on a flexible insulation substrate (e.g. polyimide film) 1 by evaporation and non-electrlytic plating. The film is etched into patterns to form individual heat generating resistors 3 and then, conductor patterns 2 are provided at both ends of the resistors 3. Then, said substrate 1 is wound on a bar-shaped heat radiating plate 4 made of metal, ceramics excellent in the heat conductivity in such a manner that the heat generating resistors come onto a convex of the heat radiating plate 4. Then, a wear resistant layer 5 is provided on the substrate to form a thermal head (numeral 14 indicates a heat sensitive paper).
