Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide possibility to set the optimum spring constant independent from adjustment of damping effect, by varying the volume of oil receiving compressive action by means of provision of two types of pistons in the cylinder and thus changing the spring constant in inverse proportion to the volume of oil. CONSTITUTION:A piston 2 formed in a single body with a rod 2a is set in the cylinder 1 slidably to divide the inside of this cylinder 1 into oil chambers 3a, 3b filled with oil. These oil chambers 3a, 3b are put in communication to each other by a piping 5 furnished in its middle with a throttle valve 6, which is connected with an oil sump 7. The piston 2 is equipped with a screw hole 8 at its opposite side to the rod 2a, and a second piston consisting of an adjusting bolt, 9, is fitted into this hole 8 by screwing. This piston 9 shall have the same diameter as the piston 2 and be provided with a minute opening 10. According to this arrangement, the oil amount in the oil chamber 3b can be adjusted by adjusting the amount of screwing of the second piston 9 into the piston 2, which will provide an optimum setting of the spring constant.
