Abstract
PURPOSE:To expand the adjustment range for damping force characteristic by providing a relatively rotatable sleeve and a control valve in a pipeline connecting an oil sump for the hydraulic oil to an oil chamber and arranging the pipeline to expand and contract a flow path in accordance with the connection area between an orifice and a control hole which are respectively mounted on the sleeve and the valve. CONSTITUTION:A valve device 12 is mounted between an oil sump 7 and an oil chamber 11 through connecting pathes 28, 8, 3. The device 12 includes a control valve 30 slidably mounted on a sleeve 37. The valve 30 has a control hole 35. The peripheral wall of the sleeve 37 are provided with orifices 38A, 38B... opposed to the hole 35, so that the orifice 38 and the hole 35 form a throttle flow path 51. The rotation of an adjuster 44 forces the end portion 42 of an operating rod 39 to advance and retreat, that causes a change in deformation of a spring 43 so as to change a set load on the spring 43. In addition to this, the adjuster 39 is moved to rotate the sleeve 37 and selectively change orifices 38A, 38B... to accord with the control hole 35, whereby an effective sectional area of the throttle flow path 51 can be changed. As described the above, since a set load on the spring 43 and the maximum effective sectional area of the throttle flow path 51 can be expanded or contracted, it is possible to expand the adjustment range for damping force characteristic.
