Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a composition having remarkably improved moldability without lowering the excellent physical properties of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene, by adding specific amounts of a specific low-molecular-weight polyethylene and a specific alicyclic hydrocarbon resin to the base resin.
CONSTITUTION: An ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene having a molecular weight of ≥1,000.000 is compounded with (A) a low-molecular-weight polyethylene having a molecular weight of 1,000W20,000, preferably 5,000W12,000 and (B) an alicyclic hydrocarbon resin which is solid at normal temperature and has a softening point of 80W110°C. The amount of (A)+(B) is 1W60pts.wt. per 100pts. of the base resin, and the weight ratio of (A):(B) is 1/5W5/1. The component (B) is e.g. a dicyclopentadiene petroleum resin polymerized to an average molecular weight of 500W2,000; however, the double bonds of the above resin are preferably saturated to improve the heat resistance and weather resistance.
