Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the discharge capacity and the closed circuit voltage at a low voltage by using a mixed solvent of propylene carbonate and tetrahydrofuran as a solvent for an electrolyte of a lithium cell which uses iron sulfide as a main anode active material. CONSTITUTION:Iron sulfide, or iron sulfide added with another anode active material, e.g., copper oxide, is used as an active material for an anode 1. A lithium plate is used as a cathode 3. A mixed solvent of propylene carbonate and tetrahydrofuran, mixed at ratios ranging from 75:25-30:70 by volume, is used as a solvent for an electrolyte. E.g., lithium perchlorate, lithium borofluoride, aluminium lithium chloride, etc. are used as a solute for the electrolyte. One or more of, e.g., ferrous sulfide, ferric sulfide, iron disulfide, etc. are, independently or by mixture, used as iron sulfide for said anode active material.
