Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress swelling of a cell by providing an electrolyte layer between a cathode and a separator of a lithium cell which uses a metal sulfide as a main anode active material so that volume increases due to discharges are absorbed by the electrolyte layer. CONSTITUTION:A separator 2 made of polypropylene non woven fabric is put between an anode 1 made of a metal sulfide acting as a main anode active material and a cathode 3 made of a lithium plate. An electrolyte layer 9 filled with an organic electrolyte in which lithium perchlorate is dissolved by a mixed solvent of propylene carbonate and 1,2-dimethoxy-cetane is provided between the cathode 3 and the separator 2. One or more of, e.g., ferrous sulfide, ferric sulfide, iron disulfide, etc. are, independently or by mixture, used as a metal sulfide for said anode active material.
