Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent generation of slopping, by adjusting various conditions so that a slopping index value calculated by a specific expression becomes <=1, in case of performing oxygen blow-refining of a molten iron by various converters. CONSTITUTION:When manufacturing steel by means of oxygen blow-refining of a molten iron by various converters of uppe blowing, upper bottom blowing and bottom blowing, a slopping index value S.I is calculated from each condition in the expression before starting the blow-refining. In case when this S.I is large, it is prevented that slopping is generated and yield of the molten iron in the converter is reduced, by changing one or more of factors such as an oxygen feed speed g02, the throw-in quantity Wore, of iron ore and mill scale, basicity CaO/SiO2 of slag, viscosity mu of slag a converter space rate E, etc., and adjusting the S.I value to <=1.
