Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare glass for preventing reflection, having high heat collecting efficiency, by removing previously the surface layer of float glass plate, treating it with a silica supersaturated aqueous solution of hydrosilicofluoric acid.
CONSTITUTION: In treating the surface of float glass plate with a silica supersaturated aqueous solution of hydrosilicofluoric acid to form a reflection preventing layer on the surface, a heterogeneous glass layer of the surface of the glass plate is previously removed before the treatment. The depth of the removed layer is more or less varied with the production conditions of the glass plate and the thickness of the plate, usually ≥ about 2μ layer is preferably shaved out. But in case of chemical abrasion, the shaving is suppressed to ≤ about 50μ. By this treatment, the reflectance of the glass surface is reduced and light transmittance is increased.
