Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a multicolor heat-sensitive recording material excellent in the heat responsiveness, color separability and the like in which an upper color developing layer containing a leuco dye and an acid substance, a lower color developing layer containing a diazo compound and coupler and a layer containing a discoloring agent for eliminating color development of the leuco dye during the heat melting. CONSTITUTION:For example, a heat sensitive color developing layer A containing a leuco dye A-1 and an acid substance A-2, a discoloring layer X containing a discoloring agent X-1 for eliminating color development of the lecuo dye during the heat melting and a heat sensitive color developing layer B containing a diazo compound B-1 and a coupler B-2 are provided on a supporting body Z to obtain a recording medium. When a specific heat is applied in such a manner that a layer A is generated but a layer B fails to be done while the discoloring agent X-1 is kept from being melted, the layer A alone generates color. On the other hand, when heat is applied in such a manner that both layers A and B generate color while the discoloring agent X-1 is melted, the color development of the layer A is eliminated with the discoloring a agent X-1 and the layer B alone generates color thereby enabling selective multi-color recording.
