Abstract

PURPOSE: A reaction product from an amine containing an alcoholic hydroxyl and formaldehyde is dehydrated and made to react with dialkyl phosphite to produce the titled compound of low acid value, which is used to produce good- quality flame-retardant polyurethane.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction between an amine of formulaI(R1WR3 are difunctional organic group bearing no active hydrogens; m is 0W10) and formaldehyde, preferably at a molar ratio of 1:1 at 30W120°C for 5W180min. Then, the resultant adduct is subjected to dehydration reaction under reduced pressure of about 400W2mmHg at 30W120°C for 15W600min. The dehydration product is made to react with a dialkyl phosphite of formula II (R'2 is 1W18C hydrocarbon) at 10W 120°C for 5W300min to give the titled compound. The resultant product has an extremely lowered acid value and resists hydrolysis, thus being used to produce high-quality flame-retardant polyurethane.
