Abstract
PURPOSE: NH4Cl-dispersed, chlorination-inactive solvent is heated and a specified amount of PCl3 and Cl2 gas is introduced, whereby formed PCl5 and NH4Cl are reacted to produce phophazen oligomer in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: NH4Cl is dispersed into organic solvent inactive to chloriantion, such as C2Cl4, C2H2Cl4, C6H5NO2, and the suspension is heated to 100 to 200°C. Into the suspension, PCl3 is dropped at a ratio of 0.07 to 0.003 mole/min per 1 mole of NH4Cl, and at the same time Cl2 is introduced at a rate of equal mole to PCl3. PCl5 is first formed in the suspension, then it is reacted with NH4Cl to produce phosphazen oligomer. The reaction is completed by further being refluxed for about 1 or 3 hours after Cl2 is supplied. Oligomer yield is 93 to 99% relative to the supplied P.
